Mande is an eminent Indian\u00a0scientist and scientific administrator and\u00a0currently serves as President of the Indian\u00a0National Science Academy (INSA). He is a\u00a0distinguished structural and computational\u00a0biologist with a strong background in\u00a0molecular biophysics. He is a distinguished professor at the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. Prof. Mande earned his\u00a0PhD from the Indian Institute of Science\u00a0(IISc), Bangalore, and carried out postdoctoral research in the\u00a0Netherlands and the United States. His scientific work has focused\u00a0on protein structure, computational biology, and genome-wide\u00a0analysis of proteins, with notable contributions to understanding infectious diseases, including tuberculosis.<br>Over the course of his career, he has held several prominent leadership\u00a0positions, including Director of the National Centre for Cell Science\u00a0(NCCS), Pune, and Director General of the Council of Scientific\u00a0and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India, and also\u00a0served as Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial\u00a0Research (DSIR). Prof. Mande has played an important role in shaping\u00a0India\u2019s science policy and research ecosystem. He is a recipient\u00a0of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology\u00a0and is a Fellow of all major Indian science academies. Through his\u00a0research excellence and institutional leadership, he has made significant\u00a0contributions to the advancement of science in India.<\/strong><br><br><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Shekhar C.
