Academic and Research Achievements: Mookerjee belonged to the rare breed of Indian scientists and engineers who strived for the industrial progress of India. He was the Head, Martin & Burn Company, Indian Iron and Steel Company, and Indian Standard Wagon Company.

Awards and Honours: Mookerjee was the recipient of CIE; Honoured by Government as Captain of Industry of Bengal (1909); KCIE (1911); General President, Indian Science Congress Association (1921); KCVO (1922). He was the President, Institution of Engineers (India) (1921) and Asiatic Society (1924) and was conferred DSc (hc) (1931) from University of Calcutta.
