Qureshi obtained his PhD in Chemistry. He served as the Head, Department of Chemistry, Osmania University, Hyderabad and Director, Central Laboratories for Scientific and Industrial Research (later Regional Research Laboratory, now Indian Institute of Chemical Technology), Hyderabad (1944-47).
