Summary

Guy Bomford obtained his DSc degree from the University of Oxford, UK. His specialization was in Geodesy and Surveying, and Military Strategy. He was Royal Engineer (1917-48), Seconded to the Survey of India (1921-48); Brigadier (1945-46); Reader in Survey and Geodesy; and Reader Emeritus, University of Oxford (1966).

Academic and Research Achievements: Bomford made studies on the form of the geoid, initially in India, and later in Asia, Europe and Australia.

Awards and Honours: Bomford was an Officer of (the Order of) British Empire (OBE) (MI) (1946). He was a Member of Royal Astronomical Society and Geological Society (London); and was an Honorary Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Bomford was President (1963-66) and Honorary President (1967) of International Association of Geology.
