Robert Rowell Simpson completed his MSc and served as Chief Mining Engineer, Court of Wards, Bengal.

Academic and Research Achievements: Simpson carried out investigations in Jharia coalfields and ruby mines of India. He wrote two books: The Indian Mines Manual andThe Coalfields of India.

Awards and Honours: Simpson was conferred the CIE Award and was President of the Mining and Geological Institute of India.
