H Srinivasa Rao received DSc (1925) from University of Madras. He became Assistant Superintendent, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata.

Academic and Research Achievements: An eminent zoologist with great experience of faunistic, systematic, morphological and biological work, Rao was In-charge of the invertebrate collections of the Indian Museum.

Awards and Honours: Dr Rao was elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore.
