Mohammad Sharif obtained DSc from Panjab University, Lahore and PhD (1936) from University of Cambridge, UK. He was Entomologist, Bombay Medical Service; and also Assistant Superintendent, Zoological Survey of India and Imperial Council of Agricultural Research.
Academic and Research Achievements: Working in different areas of zoology, Sharif did a great deal of work on Indian ticks and fleas, and the genus Rhipicephalus. He was considered an authority on Acarina and Siphonaptera. Sharif was commissioned by the Secretary of State for India to write two volumes on the Ticks and Fleas in Fauna of British India series.
