Raj Chandra Bose did his MA in pure mathematics (1927) from the University of Calcutta. His specialization was in mathematics and statistics. He was a Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics, University of Calcutta (1935-42); Professor, Institute of Mathematical Statistics, University of North Carolina, USA; and Professor, Department of Mathematics, Colorado State University, USA.
Academic and Research Achievements: Bose's contributions covered both pure mathematics and mathematical statistics. He made seminal contributions to the mathematical theory of sampling distributions and the theory of design of experiments.
