Param Nath Bhaduri completed his PhD (1939) from the University of London and his DSc from the University of Burdwan. His area of specialization was plant cytogenetics. Bhaduri was at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi from 1948 to 1956, after which he joined Burdwan University where he was Senior Professor of Botany and eventually Vice-Chancellor. Subsequent to retirement, he was a Scientist Emeritus, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (1973-78).
Academic and Research Achievements: Bhaduri developed techniques of differential staining of nucleolus. He used such techniques for cytogenetic reinvestigation of the genus Tradescantia and made extensive cytogenetic studies on genus Gaura.
Awards and Honours: PN Bhaduri was awarded the Paul Johannes Brühl Memorial Medal of the Asiatic Society. He was a Fellow, Royal Horticultural Society (London), Linnaean Society of London and Royal Microscopical Society (London). He was a Member of the INSA Council (1964-66).
