Robert Anderson Macgregor specialized in metallurgy and ergonomics. He served as the Chief Metallurgist, Darlington Forge Ltd (1912-37) and later Chief Metallurgist, Government of India (1944-55).

Academic and Research Achievements: Macgregor did appreciable work on metal fatigue and its relation to engineering design.

Awards and Honours: Macgregor was awarded the CIE (1943); He was the Fellow/Member, Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India (President, 1944-45).
