Kshitish Prasad Chattopadhyay, who completed his MSc from the University of Cambridge, UK, had specialized in a Anthropology and later became the Professor and Head of the Department of Anthropology in the University of Calcutta.

Academic and Research Achievements: Kshitish Prasad Chattopadhyay is credited with extensive anthropological research among the tribal groups like Santhals, Khasis and Kerkus. He piloted several social survey projects and led them to successful conclusions, thus making significant contribution to the field of Anthropology.

Other Contributions: Professor Chattopadhyay was on the Advisory Board of the Cultural Research Institute of West Bengal. He was also a consultant to the UNESCO Research Centre.

Awards and Honours: Chattopadhyay was a recipient of the prestigious Sarvabhauma Award from the Calcutta Pundit Samaj. He was the member of Permanent Council of International Congress of Anthropology and was elected Vice-President of the same body in 1952. He was Honorary Fellow of the Sanskrit College, Calcutta as well as of the ?cole Française d'Extrême Orient in France. He was a Honorary Fellow and Vice-President of the Learned Society of Arts Prehistorique, Paris.
