Swarupchand Mohanlal Shah received PhD (1942) and DLitt (1951) degrees from University of London, UK, and DSc (hc) (1978) from University of Kentucky, USA. He was Visiting Professor at University of Wisconsin, North Western University, USA, University of Kansas, USA and University of Kentucky, USA; and also Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, Department of Mathematics, University of Kentucky, USA.

Academic and Research Achievements: Shah made significant contributions to complex analysis, Fourier analysis, and differential equations. He also worked on growth and index problems of a class of differential equations. He co-authored three books including: Introduction to Real Variable Theory and An Introduction of Summability Theory and Applications.

Other Contributions: Shah served as Member of the American Mathematical Society, Indian Mathematical Society, Mathematical Association of America, and Sigma Xi. He worked as Editor of the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society; and Associate Editor of Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, Indian Journal of Mathematics, and Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics.

Awards and Honours: Professor Shah was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh; and Indian Academy of Sciences Bangalore.
