Kshirode Chandra Mukherjee obtained his MA, University of Calcutta specializing in psychology. He served as the Professor and Head, Department of Philosophy and Psychology, Dacca University.
Academic and Research Achievements: Mukherjee was a renowned psychologist, philosopher and educationist. His work covered social, religious and other educational aspects of psychology. His work on sensation and perception was widely acclaimed. Mukherjee was quoted appreciatively by CG Jung, particularly with respect to the science of tantras and mudras. Also skilful in instrumentation, he designed in 1935 an instrument called Mukherjee aesthesiometer (for use in experimental psychology), which was reputed to have gone into commercial production in USA.
Other Contributions: Member, INSA Council (1966-67).
Awards and Honours: Mukherjee was the recipient of Mouat Gold Medal (University of Calcutta) and served as the President, Physiology and Psychology Section, Indian Science Congress (1937). He was the Fellow, Asiatic Society.
