Mukund Lal Bhatia obtained his PhD (1937) and DSc (1943) degrees from Panjab University, Lahore (now in Pakistan). His specialization was in zoology and entomology. He was Professor and Head, Department of Zoology and Dean, Faculty of Sciences, University of Delhi; and an Honorary Professor, Biosciences Department, Himachal Pradesh University.
Academc & Research Achievements: Bhatia worked on morphology and functional morphology of Indian and foreign leaches.
Other Contributions: Bhatia edited zoological monographs on Indian animal types.
Awards and Honours: Bhatia was President, Zoology and Entomology Section of Indian Science Congress (1956). He was a Fellow of Zoological Society of London; and Member of Asiatic Society and Zoological Society of India.
