Bihari Lal Gulatee was an MA from the University of Cambridge, UK. He was the President, Survey Research Institute, Director, Geodetic and Training Circle, Survey of India and Director-General, Lands and Surveys, Government of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.
Academic and Research Achievements: Gulatee conducted studies on geodetic and geophysical aspects of earthquakes in Assam and other regions like Aravalli range and its extensions. He prepared charts of declination, horizontal force and vertical force epoch and magnetic anomalies in India, Pakistan and Burma. He measured the height of Mount Everest (a new determination) and collected gravity data in India and carried out an aerial survey and large-scale mapping of Addis Ababa.
