Sita Ram Mehra obtained his Civil Engineering degree from University of Roorkee, Uttar Pradesh. He served as the Director, Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi.

Academic and Research Achievements: Mehra’s research achievements lie in the development of an original method of road construction with stabilized soil and low-grade aggregates; and stabilization of soil for various uses in civil engineering.

Other Contributions: Mehra served as Chairman, Soil Mechanics Committee, Board of Engineering Research (CSIR); and of several committees of Bureau of Indian Standards.

Awards and Honours: Mehra was the Fellow, Institution of Engineers (India); Member, Indian Roads Congress, and Institution of Civil Engineers (UK).
