Lakkaraju Ramachandra Row obtained DSc (1945) from Andhra University, Waltair. He was Head, Department of Chemistry and Principal, Postgraduate Centre, Guntur (1967-68); Head, Department of Chemistry, Science College (1968-76); Principal (1976); Special Officer, Postgraduate Courses (1977-80); Professor (1973-76); and Emeritus Professor (1997, 1981), all at Andhra University.

Academic and Research Achievements: Professor Row contributed significantly to the chemistry of triterpenoids and saponins, alkaloids, lignans, flavonoids and related polyphenolics, and complex steroids.

Awards and Honours: Professor Row was elected Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry, UK; Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences; and Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore.
