Summary

Ram Singh Kushwaha obtained his PhD degree (1956) from Princeton University in Astrophysics. He was Assistant Professor, University of Allahabad (1947-59); Reader, Astrophysics Department, University of Delhi (1959-63), and Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science, University of Jodhpur (1963-82). Kushwaha contributed to Astrophysics, Hydromechanics and Pure Mathematics.

Awards and Honours: Kushwaha was President, Mathematics Section of Indian Science Congress (1974). He was a Fellow of Royal Astronomical Society, England; Royal Astronomical Society, Canada; National Academy of Sciences, India (General Secretary and Vice-President, 1979 and 1980); and Astrophysical Society of India. He was a Member of Astronomical Society of India and Indian Mathematical Society. He was also a UGC National Lecturer (1978-79).
