Pasupati Sengupta did his PhD (1952) from University of Calcutta. He worked as Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry and Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Kalyani, Kalyani.
Academic and Research Achievements: Sengupta’s contributions related to the chemistry of natural products, mechanism of organic reactions, transformations of triterpenoids, use of new reagents and conformation and stereochemistry of complex organic molecules.
Other Contributions: He served as Member of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS).
Awards and Honours: Professor Sengupta was elected Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society.
