Raman Vadidal Shah obtained PhD (1956) from MS University of Baroda. He worked as Head, Department of Zoology, MS University of Baroda (1967-83).

Academic & Research Achievements: Shah had keen interest in developmental physiology and comparative chordate anatomy. He established the basic structural and physiological aspects of reptilian tail regeneration and explained the mechanism of respiration in Chelonia on the basis of functional anatomy of the respiratory system.

Other Contributions: Shah has been engaged in popularizing science at school level. He served as Editor of the Indian Journal of Ornithology and Journal of Animal Morphology and Physiology.

Awards and Honours: Dr Shah was elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (India), Allahabad and was President (Founder Member also), Society of Animal Morphologists and Physiologists.
