Nagendrappa Masanappa Bujurke obtained his BSc (1996), MSc (1968) and PhD (1976) degrees from Karnatak University, Dharwad. He was a lecturer at Sri SB Science College, Gulbarga (1968-70) and later joined KUPG Centre (now Gulbarga University). During this period he was on lien to work on a project on Biomechanics at IIT, Delhi (1979-81) as Senior Scientific Officer (SSO). In 1983, he moved to Karnatak University, Dharwad and worked as Reader, then Professor and Chairman, Department of Mathematics. He was also In-charge of the Department of Computer Science (1990-2002) and popularized computer education in this area. He was Chairman of Campus Networking, Library Automation activities of the University and member of Academic Council. During 1985-86, for a year, he was Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), University of Cambridge (UK). His collaborative research with TJ Pedley, on Physiological Fluid Flows is very well recognized in the field. He was INSA Senior Scientist (2005-07) and now Emeritus Fellow (UGC) since April 2007. Academic and Research Achievements: The influence and impact of research collaboration with well-known academicians of IIT, Delhi and Cambridge University was reflected in intense innovative academic and research activities of Dr Bujurke at Dharwad. He has introduced useful and modern topics in mathematics and computer science at PG and UG courses here. He had major research projects supported by UGC, DST and AICTE in establishing excellent research activities. His original research contributions are on analytic continuation of series solution, modelling and analysis of complex physiological flows, tribology, mathematical methods and wavelets. A novel innovative algorithms based on combinatorial concepts, enables analysis of non-linear bvp and sheds light on Coanda effect and separation phenomenon of channel flows. Dr Bujurke has guided 15 students for PhD and has 70 publications in reputed national and international journals. Other Contributions: Karanatk University has the privilege of having introduced innovative courses of MCA, MSc Computer Science, Computer Lab for MSc (Mathematics) and Dr Bujurke was able to establish these activities at Karnatak University, Dharwad. He has edited one book and co-authored four books on Mathematical Modelling, the textbooks for IGNOU. |
