BM Choudary did his B.Sc. from Andhra University and MSc from Vikram University, Ujjain. He joined Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal in 1970 as an Assistant Lecturer. In 1973 he joined Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), formerly known as Regional Research Laboratory, Hyderabad as Senior Research Fellow and served there for more than 30 years. In 1980 he obtained his PhD degree from Gujarat University in "Catalysis in Organic Chemistry". Dr Choudary took voluntary retirement in the capacity of a Senior Scientist from IICT.
Academic and Research Achievements: Choudary's research mostly focused on catalysis, process development and nanotechnology and their role in the present Pharmaceuticals and other related fields. He made the state-of-the-art laboratory of international standard in IICT in the area of Catalysis and Surface Science. He has got more than 100 patents to his credit of which more than 40 are from USA. More than 50 students were awarded PhD under his guidance.
Other Contributions: Dr Choudary is a founder of Ogene Systems (I) Pvt Ltd, set up in Hyderabad in 2005, a contract research and manufacturing organization. He is heading 200 research teams focusing on Discovery research (pharma), Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine, Process development, Manufacturing and Clinical research. He was member of many international bodies, Advisory Boards and International collaborative programmes related to science and technology. He is also an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical and a Guest Editor of Topics in Catalysis. Dr Choudary was a Visiting Scientist to countries like USA, UK, Russia, Hungary, Italy, Canada, France and Japan.
Awards and Honours: Dr Choudary was awarded SS Bhatnagar Prize (1990) by CSIR and received Best Scientist Award (2004) from Government of Andhra Pradesh. He is also a Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and Andhra Pradesh Academy of Science. |
