Giridhar Madras received his masters degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras in 1990. He subsequently obtained his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University, USA, in 1994. Afterwards, he worked as a Researcher in the University of California at Davis, USA. He returned to India as an Assistant Professor of chemical engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Since 2007, he has been a Full Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department.
He received the Scopus Young Scientist Award from Elsevier for being the most cited young author in the field of engineering and was awarded the Presidential Swarnajayanthi Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology, India, and the Bhatnagar prize by the prime minister for his contributions to the field of chemical engineering. He has published 300 journal articles, which have nearly 10,000 citations and a h-index of 51.
He is currently the associate editor of several journals including Advanced powder technology, Bulletin of Material Science, Current Science and International journal of polymer science. His research interests are in the area of reaction engineering applied to polymers, supercritical fluids, and catalysis.
