Tirthankar Bhattacharyya works in the the theory of operators on Hilbert spaces as well as on the geometry of certain interesting domains in two and three dimensional complex Euclidean space. He is a recipient of the J C Bose fellowship. In his research and teaching career, he has taught with sensitivity, thus emerging as one of the best teachers at all levels from UG to Ph.D. courses. He has done research with, and has mentored young minds many of whom have gone on to become independent researchers and firm benevolent human beings.
